“But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? And how can men preach unless they are sent? (Romans 10:14-15)
All peace, grace, blessings and joy in Christ Jesus, the cause for our joy and source of life. This is my 4th year serving the Lord as a lay Catholic foreign missionary with Family Missions Company (FMC). I was blessed with the call to missions when I was just 19 and I have served both long term and short-term in missions:
- General Cepeda, Mexico( I was stationed here my first year in mission 2007 and have also been on many short term trips since then)
- Cordoba, Spain(Jan. 2008-present)
- Calcutta, India(Aug-Sep’08 along with a group from Cordoba)
I little bit on what we do,…our missions are missions of hope, completely dedicated to evangelization following the teaching of Jesus Christ: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19)-words spoken over 2,000 years ago that are just as relevant today as they were then. A study released by the Vatican in 1985 stated that 3.2 billion people-about 2/3 of the world’s population- have never heard the gospel message of Jesus Christ-the greatest and most precious treasure we have, making Jesus’ statement “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Luke10-2) even more urgent and necessary. Its a duty we are all called to as baptized Catholics, whether it is being sent out to labor in His most precious vineyard or supporting those called to labor. This world is full of God’s innocent children waiting in darkness with a deep yearning and hunger to hear this message of joy and new life, and this blog is a dedication to the Lords amazing work through me-one of His littlest laborers. So journey with me in prayer and spirit to the ends of the earth shinning light into the darkness.
